A Day with Macy

Macy is getting so big! She is no longer our little baby anymore! I was thinking about some cute things that she does that I love and I thought I'd write them down! There are many, so here goes!

She is learning how to talk and mimics almost anything I say...it doesn't always sound like English, but it's adorable! She is just beginning to make animals sounds. She knows dog and kitty, her eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and belly button.Yesterday she thought it was funny when I started to jump up and down, so she did it too. Now she will squat to the ground and try her hardest to jump! It is the cutest thing ever! I don't know if her feet leave the ground, but she almost fell several times doing it. She loves to sit at the window and look outside. Her new favorite thing to do is color. She carries a pencil or pen around with her and a little note card and will color throughout the day. She can comb her own hair, put make up on, and brush her own teeth. It's not a surprise to find random toys and objects in the garbage...I guess she decided she was done with them for now? She loves to clap for herself, give five, skin, and pound it. She's not exactly interested in TV; she prefers to run around everywhere like a busy little bee :).
She is a doll, but she definitely has some "spunk" to her. She is a VERY hard girl to keep still during ANYTHING. I took her to one of Ri's bball games the other day and she climbed all over the bleachers and ran around the whole time. Finally, I decided to whip out the fruit-by-the-foot and she sat for a record time of 15 minutes while I fed her piece by piece. Church is impossible. Sometimes I wonder why we go if we just sit out in the hall the entire time. I had to take her out 4 times by the time sacrament started. When she saw Dad was passing the sacrament she got so excited and started pointing and yelling, "Da da! Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad!" I had to stop her from running to him and she let out the biggest scream and started kicking and threw a big tantrum. It was awesome!
Did I mention she LOVES socks? She carries her socks around everywhere. She's very good about helping Mom with the laundry and will pick out all her socks and clothes. Soon she has an armful, but doesn't stop there. She will bathe in her clothes...she sits on them, surrounds herself in them, and buries herself with them. What a fun thing it is to cover her head and play peek-a-boo! I love it when I say, "Where's Macy?" She immediately uses her hands to cover her eyes. One little shiny eye is revealed between two fingers as she pretends she's hiding. It's precious.
She is a good little helper. She knows where the "cleaning rags" are, pulls them out, and scrubs the cupboards and floor with them. When it's time to put the dishes away, she tries to jump on the dishwasher door and hands Mom all the silverware. When we say, "We're going bye bye," she grabs her coat, shoes, keys, and heads to the door. She will stick the key at the doorknob and try to lock it. There is nothing she loves more than walking to and from the car ALL BY HERSELF. I get so many compliments on how cute and little she is walking all by herself, holding my hand.
In the mornings, Ri usually brings Macy to me in bed. She gets so excited when she gets to wake one of us up. She will jump on us and start hitting us in the face. There's nothing like waking up to a cute little hand punching your face over and over. It's a fun game to crawl and walk all over Daddy.
She is a big girl now. She walks up the stairs by herself while grabbing onto the banister that she can barely reach. She pulls herself up with one hand and walks all the way up. She's even big enough to drink out of her own water bottle and insists she puts the lid on.
She has her silly moments too. Every time I change her diaper, she sticks her finger in the diaper rash ointment and rubs it on her eyelid. Why??? That is the question of the day. She must like the taste of it too, because she repeatedly tries to eat it. I love when she pulls out a wipe, sticks it to her nose, and blows as hard as she can. She'll throw the wipe out, grab another one, and will continue to blow. (Not so cute when she tries to help wipe herself though.) She never forgets the hand sanitizer!
Macy looks forward to seeing Daddy home every day. Any noise from the front door and her eyes get big. She looks at me, smiles, and starts running to the door, saying, "Da da da Dad, dadda!" She knows that when he gets home she gets to wrestle with him and play.
When we were in Philly Ri, LaCol, Macy, and I were stopped at the elevator. Macy was in her stroller and a guy came up to us and said to Ri, "Please tell me that is your little brother." We all looked around for the little boy, but were so confused because there wasn't one. He repeated it and then said, "There's no way you are old enough to have a son." We looked down at Macy and laughed. Ri replied, "No, but this is my DAUGHTER." The man was shocked and couldn't believe we "children" had a little daughter. So Macy was mistaken as a boy, even with her bow and pink socks.
Before we put her to bed at 6:30 we read a book, sometimes two. She loves for us to chase her around and scare her for awhile. If we are lucky we get a big wet kiss on the lips. Hugs with a pat on the back are nice too! It's habit now... Mom wakes up right before the alarm goes off. All is silent. Any noise, creek, or peep from us and we instantly hear a sweet little girl's voice in the next room. We don't know how long she has been up for, but each morning, she quietly waits and listens. The second she hears us make any noise, she starts to chitter-chatter to make sure we hear her.
There are so many things we love about Macy! She is quite the girl and we are so thankful for her! We think of all the fun things she brings into our lives and realized what a blessing she is!

  1. Oh my!! This is so cute! I miss Macy!!! That's hilarious about the elevator man... My cousin used to get so offended when people would mistake her little baby girl for a boy, even when she was wearing a bow, that we finally came to the conclusion that old people don't know the difference. Hahaha.
I love love love your blog, Kolt. :)
Miss you and love you guys!!
